Stupid question time I suppose:

Are you using the adventure>fishing option and then left clicking on the water? That starts you fishing.

If your pole isn't fully constructed you'll get a little red error message saying you don't have a fully equipped fishing pole. Left click item, right click pole until it has string, hook, bait/lure, you can right click "unequip" and it will take it apart if you're not sure what you're missing. It must also be in your hands obviously for it to be used.

You have to fish on water that isn't directly touching the shore. A boat is ideal.

As for fish jumping: They stop jumping 1-2 hours after the node dries up. No idea why there's a delay, but it's there. If you fish with bait, the fishing animation will stop after a bit but you won't catch a fish. If you're using bait, you're guarenteed to catch a fish if there are any there. Populated areas tend to be very fished out because it's great INT food.

heh, stupid questions are just good troubleshooting =)

I do use the right command (adventure>fish then left-click).
Fully constructed pole. Actually no error message at all.

And the third, well the fish is in the deep end of a lake and I'm standing in the shallow water. There is two "rows" of shallow water though so I'm standing in the one furthest away from land. If that makes any sense at all.

While we are on the subject how do you fish in shallows? Do you have to be in the shallows or do you have to fish (where you click) in shallows?

I'm out of ideas... unless it's a bug and you reincarnated recently without the fishing skill or something. Have you tried fishing from a boat? See, the thing is that it lets you fish in any water you want, fish or not. if the pole isn't getting cast I have no idea what's up.

You may be trying to fish in a spot where you can not fish at from land.

Try standing away from the water
then click the fishing icon that turns your pointer into a hook
then righ click with your hook pointer in a place in the water.
If you can legally fish there then your character should walk over and cast his line(even if there are no fish to catch).
If it does not work then click at a different piece of water until you find a legal spot.

The node may be so depleted that it only covers a small area meaning you may have to use a boat to get to it.
If I'm understanding you correctly. Fish are jumping in the river. You are standing in the shallows and there's a little bit of a distance from you and the fish.

You can't actually fish in the shallow area. You have to fish just off it. If you click the tile just off, you'll stand in the shallows and fish the spot next to you.

The fish nodes can be rather large, so even one in the middle of the river will be fishable from the river bank.

Just tried fishing in a boat and for some reason it works just fine. So I'll guess I'll just take the boat with me when going fishing =)

Thank you for all your help.
