Well i personally drowned because i taught you would be able to drink to replenish stamina like when running but you can't, i only understood too late it was stupid. Honestly your stamina is droping so fast you don't really have time to react the first time. You better have at least 30/40 stam imo and try it on a very narrow river first just so you can experience what it look like.

1) Make toe wet
2) get in knee-deep
3) swim tile front tile back
4) gain confidence
5) swim across your first river
6) become high with adrenaline rush from first succesful attempt
7) swim back
8) FUCK-LAG
9) hear your heart pounding as youre watching the login screen without your main posted...

:) I will never ever buy swimming, boat is soooo safe (not for AFK ofc)

You can't open the radial menu when you're actually swimming, which is why you have to do it like I described earlier. Once the menu is open, you can drink at any time unless you click somewhere and close it.

Also of note, I tried the radial-menu-trick a little, and it worked very well! But, you want to use LOW quality water! This way, you don't regain stamina very fast, and you will empty the entire water container by the time you reach the other side. If you use higher q water, you'll drink like 1L and have max stamina. If you use lower, you can drink 3L and have ~80% stamina, because it fills up the bar a bit faster than swimming empties it.

I remember that I had a goal of about 1000 CON before I would even buy swimming.

Swimming's actually useful for combat that takes place on water, but it's also very risky.

I buy swimming but never turn it on. Not buy a skill just means that one guy is going to laugh as he swims across the river and you have hurry to buy the skill.
