Where's the best place to use rustroot extract?

It just takes time. First you have to randomly mine in places where the stone is soft enough for you to do so, in most cases you get rocks, but occasionally you find ore. But you may also find a cave with no metals in it, so far I haven't known this to be the case but it can happen.

I can tell you there are caves that have no ore in the cave walls. Also, there are spots with no cave within a couple of minimaps. The game is random like that.

I think it should be used inside caves, to prospect the level below.
Finding copper, tin and iron inside cave layer is easy and needs no prospecting using RR at all.

How is it easy?

Mine the walls
Avoid cave ins
Get ore and smelt it.
