I started, but there really arent any plants around there and i am too weak to fight ants or animals...

Did you catch the part where you need to raise your exploration? Raise it to 10+ and you'll see lots of blueberries and chantrelles. If you don't see any, walk around. Preferably not in circles.
Anyone can kill rabbits as they don't fight back. Raised your peaceful slider yet to get more LP? No? Well, get to it.
You can lead ants to shallow water and go back to raid their hill. That will give you lots of food and curios.

You know you need to buy Foraging before you can see edible plants, yes? Buy Foraging, then raise your Exploration. Likewise, buy Hunting so that you can catch rabbits. Rabbits are not common, but eventually you will see one, even in forest. Do not try to attack anything else.

You know, I've seen a guy just sleeping in the middle of the river on a tiny island... he had only a HF and a bed...very sad and unfortunate considering I appeared in the middle of a pine and fir forest with nothing to eat and he had only 2 trees total and nothing else. And since I was stubborn I traveled a loong way to get some apples and nuts and until I found and cooked a rabbit. But if you are on an island... get swimmig if you can and go for a swim...then make a new hearthling. Otherwise you'll have to be really lucky and find someone traveling along the river to take you to one of the banks.
