While we're on the subject of hearthfires, I seen a very large village surrounded by altfires. It is the most ugly thing I had ever witnessed.

Destroying a HF would do nothing unless the person who broke it also claimed the land you logged out on, forcing you to wilderness spawn. People may also destroy HFs when the person has committed a criminal act, allowing them to summon the perpetrator where ever they please.

Or if you know where they logged off you can build/place stuff to block them from logging in there. Only really useful if you destroy a bed they were sleeping in.
