i honestly believe the replies you have gotten are good enough for your aurochs, though...
my experience on w3, it took about 2+ months or so to change deforested area into decent size of moor.
i NEVER planned to make moors, but my village farm (constant plowing) gradually grew into moor. by the time jorb announced the end of w3, about 1/3 of the farm land was moor even with constant plowing back. (14 of 9x9 hemp fields and another around 30x30 one for other crops. planted trees around those farms *might* have stopped large parts of the farm from changing into moor though, and maybe trying to plow all moor tiles back for farming prevented it to spread fast. i never intended to experiment to find out. having moor on farm was too annoying until Ender client additions.)
so, waiting for enough tiles to be terraformed into moor for long, for the sole purpose of auroch hunt, sounds too absurd to me. its much faster to start seeing aurochs and mouflons spawn on your grassland.
fyi, ive only tamed aurochs/mouflons that spawned on the grassland i terraformed, which is either inside walls or just next to the walls of my own home. i never liked the idea of walking all the way back home or raft from somewhere else i found them. and i put pclaim all over to avoid having them spawned after a while, cause they just get on my nerves too much by spawning almost every day, especially when i had to farm in a hurry and no time for hunting.
