I was always told villagers could take it if the auth is <50k but I guess I learned wrong.

The <50k auth thing is only for non-villagers to take the LS position if it's empty. >50k requires the LS seat to be empty and for a villager to take the spot. No matter what, the LS has to be empty.

There must be something that can be done to revive dead villages, or ones that are stuck from people quitting....
