Nodes are random and scattered. There are a total of 5 Node types: Copper, Tin, Iron, Silver, and Gold. Having a node on level 1 does not guarantee anything below or around it on any other levels.

i live in a village, and none of them are online right now, we have a mine hole and they find ore in it, But idk were they are getting it from or anything like that, i just go around smacking walls ;/

Any tips or help is appreciated

im no pro or something but i can put it in a easy way for you.
1:low str+not trained for it
can mess up the quality of mined products
quality of mined products effects how effective crafted items are(armor etc)
higher quality=higher demand=more profit.
if a miner can take Q10 ore and you take Q5 let him do it,even if he isnt on for quite a while because you just might make more profit in trading :o

Low strength can reduce the quality of mined product? How come?
And what do you mean by "not trained for it"?

I did that on the first day of the server. Easiest source of meat in the early game. I had opportunity knocks and charge! too but that's besides the point. It got a lot easier with Call down the thunder the next day.

Anyway, you cannot lower the quality of ore with low strength or skills. All that does is determine if you can mine an area and mine speed: sqrt (str*tool quality) determines your mining ability versus hardness. The more you overcome hardness the faster you mine. Pickaxes are significantly faster than stone axes but stone axes are easier to raise in quality. Ore quality is determined by the node it's on and those are spawned randomly at world generation.

When blacksmithing, sqrt(str*blacksmithing) determines the softcap you put on items you make. Tool quality and material quality matter a lot too. If you surpass both tool and material quality, your softcap cannot lower the quality of the item.

Can't tell you where you buddies are mining ore from, only they'd know.

It gets easier with higher skills, I admit. Being clever and bold to earn bear meat, bones, teeth, and a skin is more valuable than keeping a few day old character alive. The trick is mostly in using signpost traps and shallow water to your advantage. Opportunity Knocks and Charge! mixed with animal twitches and safety in shallow water mean you can kill bears and boars really easily. Boars don't require the signposts though, as when they run you can catch them. Deer require a bit more UA and a lot of initiative (It was ~80 off the top of my head) to beat their rate of healing and kill them.

For ants? Bring them to shallow water and their pathing algorithm borks completely and they're a free kill.
