Decent suggestions, I say decent because the idea is bad.

1)You shouldn't have your alts go all or nothing on a single idea. you need to condense the characters because eventually there will be overflow. You want to keep the characters with the same FEPs together. X requires Dex? Get him to do all Dex jobs. It'll seem bad at first, but you'll want to go further eventually.

Unfortunately you need to make a difference with the alts, that is different classes of alts. Your main serves no purpose, forget the idea of having a main, you have crafters, fighters, and freely disposables.

Your crafters (which you should have backup for if possible after you're done with the first) should be characters that are fed good curios, and specialize in fields, they should also eat foods they need (mussels for dex/psy, per for cook/explorer [ you need several explorers, don't stop at one], str for miner/smith[you will want several], str for fighters[you will want several], 25 str for vandal alts[you will want MANY]).

To start off let's list the different jobs and FEP requirements to look for overlaps in the Class 1 alts (Crafters/Never leave the city/Should never die or leave scents, ever.)

Exploration - Perception
Stealth - Intelligence
--
Sewing - Dexterity
Smithing - Strength
Carpentry - N/A
Cooking - Perception
Farming - N/A
Survival - N/A

The only overlaps you see here are perception - EXP/Cooking(However this is a bad match because you'll have many explorers anyway;you need to double feed exploration). Intelligence is something they all need, a stealth character makes the most of it though (good for a 'main fighter' which I'd consider a Class 2 character).
Dex is only good for sewing as far as I know.

Since you can only find this single overlap the next thing you want to look into is characters that won't need their use at the same time, or that fall in the same industry. So the next thing you want to look at is mixing very demanding and nondemanding skills together. Carpentry is not very demanding, you get it to 200, it stays there a LONG time. You want to pair this with your most demanding, let's say Farming. Smithing is stupid easy, but on top of that almost never has to raise and leaves you with a lot of opportunity to grow. Never mix farming and cooking, ever, you want that on two different alts, trust me.

Now you have:
1 - Sewing - Dex
2 - Cooking/Carpentry - Per
3 - Farming
4 - Smithing/Survival - Str

Why this mix? Simple. Sewing isn't too demanding in stats, but the FEP makes a lot of eating necessary anyhow. Cooking is very nondemanding once you get the PER to match. So is carpentry. This character can save up LP in a big way for pclaims or the like. Farming is rather demanding if you tend your carrots properly, leave this by itself, don't mix with sewing. Smithing/survival is a good mix, rarely both needed, smithing is somewhat AFK anyhow.

You could if you want to condense to 3 characters simply making sure each character only needs 1 FEP type and mixing them around:
1 - Sewing/Farming - Dex
2 - Cooking/Carpentry - Per
3- Smithing/Survival - Str
This still keeps a balance, but I really enjoy sending farming on it's merry way as high as possible, as early as possible, so I tend to keep it separate.

The overall list should look like this:
Class 1 - 3 characters

Sewing/Farming - Dex (Good curios early on, lots of mussels, once farming gets decently past the crops you can stock LP and get sewing up to speed)

Cooking/Carpentry - Per (Decent curios early on, don't need nothing special, eat lots of carrots, ~100 PER early on, 200-300 final goal)

Smithing/Survival - Str (Eat meat early on then move to cheese, only need 50~100 str ; smithing caps out around 150 need, survival at 300, will take a bit longer)

Class 2 -
Main - Int/Str/Per/agi/con (Good curios the whole way, your main LP character, should have almost everything into a combat stat, probably UA, want some little bit of INT if you can't squeeze it out of clothes aim for 50 and keep your INT high with other stats, will be your main guy for priority missions, make sure he can warp anywhere)

3x Explorer - 50~100 Per, 200 Exp (Decent curios, feed lots of carrots, but they come second place to your crafters)

2~5xWarriors - Str/Agi/UA(/MC) - (These should be decent warriors but not detracting from your main, if possibble good/decent curios, decent stats but not detracting from your main)
2x Courier alts - N/A (These characters just need to hit 360% LA and get 2 shewbread, tadah now they are courier alts, don't confuse them with vandal alts, don't leave their scents outside of your village/plot)

Class 3 -
?x Warriors - Str/Agi/UAorMC or Per/Agi/MM/UA - You should have as many of these as you can stand, start off giving them shewbread and other craftables, continue that, once they hit 360% LA all you need to do is log them in every day or so to feed them new curios, go for the longterm ones. They don't need to be top soldiers, they are disposable, make as many as possible. These will be your throw away fighters, you can assess situations and not waste a character if shit goes sour. They should have rage and always be able to summon your other real characters if it looks like something may go down. Serve many uses.

?x Vandalism Alts - These alts are used for vandalism or transporting items from raids, they are the offensive version of the courier alt. They can hold your scents and summon you at an enemy base, they can get you clay/water from claimed areas. You always want to have more of these, because it only takes 8 days, and you only have to logon two times with them other than the original 2 days to get 360% LA.

This is how I see it anyway, there are many ways to do it, but in my general experience I see that the more infrastructure you have (and I by far do not have the best, I'm sure Patch probably does  ), the more characters you can make easily. Having a nice area to easily refuel them, having 1 very high quality merchant's robe to toss between them as they refuel (and HQ wine) makes it possible for them to get more in with less INT early on. The biggest thing to know is how to deal with the food you may need for them, as you see the characters who are benefitted by food are many. Those 2-5 C2 warriors are best used for palibashers, instead of your main. I only hold the idea of a main still central because I do find that if you are all alone all the alts in the world won't save you so having great stats on one character, will.

Just an idea I wrote up right now anyway. I'm still making plans for if I come back in W6 to use a similar idea to this and have a 'dispensary' if you will for food and curio storage and refueling alts set up fast. A lot of junk curios you get from mining and such are great for alts!

If you play smart and not like a loser like -cough- most of us who are known by our mains, you wouldn't even be known by some social irl main.

I didn't mean that as an insult to you, but actually those of us who I know and play with ingame, who sometimes don't mind posting their name usernames and such for some 'social reasons'. (including myself)

Testicleese certainly does rings a bell, probably because the name is something that's...different. :)
Don't know from when/where though.
