You should also be feasting on a table to reduce the amount of hunger each item gives and increase the FEPs. Also smoke dried hemp.
Are you using the FEPs correctly? Don't just eat one type of food constantly, vary your diet. Each different type of food you eat per FEP bar decreases the total number of FEPs needed to gain a stat point. It doesn't matter if you eat eight kinds of Str boosting pork and beef, they'll reduce the FEP numbers you need.

Also, shoot for quality materials to increase the number of FEPs each food item gives. A q40 Pumpkin pie is as good as eating 2 q10 pumpkin pies but only fills you up as much as one does.

Efficiency~!

Hi everyone. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I really need to work on this because quite honestly my stats suck right now!

Thanks again.

Has really noone mentioned tables and symbel?

Those are available early in game. Decorated table will decrease amount of hunger that is filled by eaten food, as well as slightly increase amount of FEPs gained.
Smoking hemp buds and drinking tea will also increase FEPs gain, not sure if you have those available though.

Hmm, I'll hijack the thread a little. I have a question about Bonfire.
wiki (http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Bonfire) says:

Build a bonfire, load it up with fuel, light it, and feast away. There is a minimum requirement to how much fuel the bonfire needs before you can light it (it will change sprite when it's possible to light it). By feasting in sight of the grand fire, you can eat even more, the bonus determined by the collected hunger modifiers of all active tables, factored by the average charisma of everyone at the party. Please note that the FEP-bonus is only ever applied to the table in question, never shared with the extended party in any way. The person with the highest charisma should light the bonfire, as charisma of the host of the evening is obviously relevant for the bonus.

if the bonus is factored by average charisma of everyone at the party, then why person wiothest charisma should light it?
What exactly is the bolded "table in question"? Bonfire seems to have area of effect, so which table is the one "in question"? Only one table gets the bonus? What about the others?
Does anyone have some example numbers? Is the bonus increased if there are many decorated tables in bonfire's range? What is "active table" anyway?
Will Bonfire work when there is only 1 person eating? Does bonus change when people enter / leave bonfire's area of influence?
Could someone please make the quoted description more understandable? :S

In addition to the symbel items and variety bonus mentioned,

do not forget pepper!

Not only do you get devilishly hungry while boiling the peppercorns, the dried drupes can be applied to units of food to increase their FEP.

In my opinion the amount of time and effort required to make single pepper is higher than making extra dishes which would give more FEP.
I would recommend using pepper only on rare dishes, like steamed cave bulbs etc.

I agree with you.
I only use pepper on foods I consider more annoying/tedious/time-consuming to make than pepper. The list is short.

It is not. I just tested the hand-plowing thing and was amazed at how quick that is. Palisade bashing is 2% per tick (which is one or two times a second) so it's pretty quick, but probably better for when you don't want to be as focused on your character (which is... never? =)).

Destroying those horrible boulders in your garden may be ok to.
