If a idol is under 50k authority it must have no one in the village for you to take lawspeaker. If you are a villager there must be no lawspeaker

That's weird. I abandoned my old village. Authority dropped below 50k and someone became LS there, even though I still had alts there and one of them was a chieftain. How do I know? They can now use cornerpost in that village, meaning they took a sign from it, so they must have LS there.

Lets see if I remember this correctly: If there is no LS, the the chieftain can take the role. If there is no LS or chieftain, then any villager can take the role (meeting requirements, of course.) If the village is under 50k Auth, then anyone can take LS, whether they are a member of the village or not.

The big issue with it being under 50k is outsiders taking it and the idol being destroyed. I was trying to remember the rules for a crossroad not on a village claim. I seem to recall it still functions but can no longer be connected anywhere else, but I could be wrong.

Are you sure about that? I could not become the LS of a village below 50k Auth, which had a LS already.
I think you can only become LS if the village doesn't have one already

He is correct. You can claim any village through an idol that has less than 50,000 Auth.
"Normal" is only a difficulty level in video games - Aso11
Jackard: Koya only raises the lynx so he can molest it later
Koya: What means "molest" ? Translator cannot translate it or do it with no logics...
"And no im not native to english, I was born in the usa." - A very bad troll.

When I was leaving the village I renounced my lawspeaker. After that I could become LS on the same char again, and authority was maxed at that time. Even though I had chieftain appointed already on other character. So it seems any villager can become LS when there is no LS.

He = who? Me or Chill?
If Chill, then why wasn't I able to reclaim my village when authority was below 50k?
