why don't you just get arrow and bow and try out - you always can use sling too...

even with 20 MM you can hunt with a bow - it's just a pain waiting for aim... and also you need both hands and without quiver a bow is very useless - so no backpack too

Q40 Bows, like Magicman said, are really good because they're fast enough to not drive you absolutely insane while waiting and their damage output is pretty significant. Until then, Slings are really fast and thus are the preferred weapon.

Honestly, 90% of the time I kill an animal, I either am carrying a sling on me for "just in case" I find a bear or deer. or I just wrastle it to the ground and wring its neck. Only time I carry a bow is when I'm actually trying to find something to kill.

When an animal starts fleeing, I peace it (the sword and olive branch button next to it's portrait) and it stops running. Then i just take aim again and hope it doesn't move.
