99% of these questions can be answered by the wiki, which will give you the skills and items required: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Haven_and_Hearth_Wiki

A stone axe is a weapon, so as early as getting survival. ;)

Did you search the wiki for "weapon"? I did and got this page: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Weapons. On that page are links to the weapons in the game, which clearly show what skills and items are needed to craft them. No, there is no direct, lay it out for you guide on weapon crafting. However, you can use each link to see what you need to know. Metal working is the most common factor, however, as you read through the weapons, you're going to need different skills. That also doesn't factor in the incrementable skills needed.

Weapons aren't quite as important in this game (at least early game to mid game). You're axe will do you fine because you're not going to want to get into hand to hand combat with anyone until you are up quite a ways. The combat system is difficult to use. I suggest finding a sparring partner and try out what each and every move does and what situation you can use it in to master it.
