That has been changed. They can now. I'm not sure when it was changed, though.

must have been very recent if they did I just fenced and killed a fox near my palisade a few days ago(wednesday I think)

They can only break sign posts unless it's changed since world 5

I've finally killed my first animal using Marksman (15) with a Sling (Q12). It was an Aurochs. I used the signs trick not to get attacked by the other animals when skinning etc. :D

EDIT: Also killed my first FOX :).
