I was actually responding to the guy who was asking how much stamina it takes to swim a river... in a thread about how much stamina it takes to swim a river.

Should have quoted it, I know. I hate it when there's a page break...

Anyway, yeah. Nobody needs to swim, now.

The cost of swimming failure is everything you've worked for during your entire time in the game (assuming full change) Why on Hearth would you risk that by attempting to swim with even anywhere close to the minimum suggested con?! I was at 75 Con before I even attempted to cross a small river...
