Use a q10 sling so that you never don't ever go over the DPS threshold to make them run.

pretty sure theres a dps and a damage done threshold. at least ive had boars run from me after doing like 14 damage and the last hit being 30seconds before that.

Bears don't have that damage threshold, thank god.

here's my way of doing this, if they start to run, (this only works when you're not super likely to hit them) aim a shot at them and wait for them to disengage combat (for their portrait to disappear, then fire your shot and unless you hit them again and make them run more (repeat the process if so) they'll come running back, angrier than ever

They almost never run if you just wait for them to twitch before shooting.

some people's latency doesn't allow you to do this, i've spoken to many people who just can't twitch hunt for reasons beyond explanation
