And I've never just walked up to a herd of 7 aurochs and pulled hair off every single one without getting aggro'd, either.

The odds of pissing off the hairy cow when pulling it's hair is relatively low. (I'd say under 25%, maybe lower). If what you're saying is correct, you should have made screenshots and posted because it would be a bug. Without screenshots, everyone is just going to think you're making up some BS.

Of course, this could actually be a feature. If someone wants to document it, I'm all for saying "Great find!"

I didn't take screenshots cos, as someone said earlier, i had heard of this and thought it was just part of the game. I know everyone thinks i'm either stupid or making it up, i've been hoping one of the mods would know about this and back me up, but nothing so far - but it did happen. :D

I read this on the wiki at some point too.

Feeding an Auroch a Four-Leaf Clover will reduce the chance of aggro by the herd when pulling hairs to almost nothing. Note:This only reduces the chance of herd becoming aggro not get rid of the chance.

http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/Auroch

However i never notice a difference, and now only pull hairs with full armour and a boat nearby.

my tactic:
☻sit in my boat
☻aggro the beasts (with leather armour is nice)
☻after they twitch, jump out, pull 1's hair, jump back in.
☻sling the one you just pulled (to get it out of the way)
☻rinse and repeat.

What's the phrase? "Pics or it didn't happen." Don't expect a mod to come in here and back anyone up unless someone is just flat wrong. They know no more than the rest of us do about the game. They're just forum mods, not GMs or super-users and aren't privy to changes in game mechanics. If someone can catch loftar (or Jorb) in a good mood on IRC, you might get him to divulge the secret. As I said, we'll be willing to believe if someone can provide some proof.

Lets not advertise the old and more or less officially abandoned HnH wiki at havenandhearth.wikia.com

Maybe i'm not being clear enough, i wasn't trying to pull hairs, i had two buckets and loads of clover with the express intent of obtaining milk. I fed the clover, offered bucket and clicked. Up popped the option "pull hair" - i don't want this and think i must have clicked wrongly, so, feed more clover and try again, same thing happened and no milk. So, i thought it must be what i'd previously read about and decided to go for it - Got hairs.
I then tried another of the pack cos all i realy wanted was milk and the same option to pull hairs popped up again, i figured this was just random luck so fed clovers to all 5 in herd and got 5 hairs.
Was pretty p'eed off cos needed the milk!

im not really sure if the odd is that low.
from my own experience, very often 2 safely, and 3rd or 4th aggroing.
sometimes 1st one agro, too, but then i dont try the next one that day.
i dont think i get lucky that often, so my guess is, maybe more like 50%...but hey, i dont keep records nowadays.

Sounds like an interface bug to me, right click got interpreted as if there was no bucket on the cursor.

Also, reduction of aggro chance is an urban legend, AFAIK there's nothing to back that claim up, so Occam's razor says it's not true.

Occam's razor says a lot of things aren't true until proven to be otherwise. Good principle to follow when doing research because the simple hypotheses are the easiest and cheapest to eliminate.

Thx x

After taking offence at being accused of "BS" I asked around and a vet from W4/W5 says that what he thinks happened is that they were milked by someone else b4 i got there - hence only giving me the option to pull hairs. He wasn't 100% sure but it may be what happened.
