Why is this game so Laggy? :(

Considering this game has perma-death I don't see how people can put up with the lag.

trust me, eventualy you wont even notice the lagg unless its a 10 second lagg spike.

I understand that playing this game I have to deal with lag. But I'm surprised at how many people get offended and attack the OP when he asks if there are plans to make a more reliable server. I have only played for a week but I can't count the number of times I have said "if only there was no lag this game would be perfection" I look forward to hearing more remarks, hah!

Thank-you, finally someone who understands. I'm honestly surprised so many people got defensive over a simple question. I didn't know the answer to this question so I asked on the forums for answers.

I haven't seen anyone getting hostile here. Annoyed? Sure. If every new player that showed up posted about the lag, the bitch threads wouldn't get off the front page. Again, the relative information CLEARLY says this is an alpha stage game. That means mechanics might not work correctly, the server might mysteriously become unstable and be wiped, and there will likely be major lag. Since HnH will NEVER become a commercial project, it will therefore never resolve some of these problems, especially the lag.

Now, given what I have described, here and previously, when every time the question about "annoying lag" is asked, and the exact same answer comes out, wouldn't you be the one that would be annoyed if you see the question every week or two when the answers are readily available on the forums?

I haven't noticed this game has much more than a second or two lag (apart from the odd, inconvienient times). Even the lag between clicking on a tree and having the chop option, just right click and wait and it works eventually. Patience is a virtue. We all have to learn to walk at some point.

and it's pretty much been said, but if you want no lag, play wow or on a good mc server, if you want an indie sandbox like this, the servers suck, think of it as being a feature of the game. It adds to the skill of playing.

In short: Last world ended because of data corruption during a backup and apparently Loftar (One of the games developers) put in some kind of secondary backup that causes lag after a while. (If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me, this is MY understanding)

THIS is exactly how the server should be. As of Monday (after they restarted it). They is virtually no lag, occasionally theres a spike but NOTHING like it has been the past few days. Did the restart fix this? maybe everyday at X time the server should be restarted to fix this problem.

This is how the server should always be!
