Thank you all very much for the great tips, tricks, critique and advice.

I think splitting the farm up into a small quality raising area and a production area is something I'm going to do.

Also, this is incredibly useful. I wouldn't have thought of this.

There is something called a "Decay tick" right? so long as the cupboards and loom are inside a cart whenever this happens they will be fine?

Correct, your cupboard and loom are safe from decay as long as they are inside the cart. The only way they can decay is if a random decay hits them while you are working with them while they are outside through simple bad luck but that isn't a big of a risk as you can regather all of your dropped items or repair the loom.

Looking at that picture, you may want to widen the paved area for the loom though I assume you are going to do that anyways.
