This is getting super intense! So I used an alt to luer the boar away, and started shooting the fox. Suddenly it breaks through the signs, walks right through around the fence and though hole in the fence made by the boar, and knocks me out (I had no idea it could do this). So I just waited until I woke back up and ran as far away as I could.

So why is it that foxes have path-detection AI, but we don't? That's not fair...

I assume that it spawned in an area that you didn't fully claim?

And I believe the fox will be gone as well. Fortunate foxes are pretty commons.

Foxes can break signs. As you witnessed. They cannot break Roundpole fencing though. So Just block him in with Roundpole CPs and you'll be good.

OK, I did that and I'm trying to kill the fox. For some reason my hits aren't doing any damage. Now I'm trying to bring up the aim meter all the way, but it stopped about 3/4ths of the way up and hasn't moved for a few minutes.

EDIT: This is getting ridiculous. I miss every single time, even though I'm like 2 squares away from the fox and keep bring the aim meter up really high. I haven't done a single point of damage.

WTF is wrong with this. I just fired a shot, and a red "34" appeared above the fox, and blood appeared around the fox, but its defense meter is still at 100.

EDIT:

Next shot, a red 8 appeared, and a yellow 1 appeared, and more blood but the defense meter is still at 100. I think the combat system is broken, this makes no sense.

I'm still really confused. I hit is several times, and red/yellow numbers and blood appeared, but the defense meter is still 100. How do I know whether or not I'm doing damage? Also, it it regaining SHP?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just killed it! :D Thanks for the help everyone.

The defense bar is only relevant to melee and unarmed combat. Ranged combat ignores the defense bar. Red numbers = SHP damage and yellow numbers = HHP damage. Animals do not have HHP so just watch the red numbers. Animals do not passively heal SHP but deer and Dryads can heal them.
