I've located a few more of the ridiculously rare (for a tear 1 resource) rabbits but the lag is so horrendous that they get away every time. >.<

I'll get one sooner or later. Thanks. the client helps.

Approach rabbit in normal walk speed, stop right next to it, set to run speed, be sure to have 2x2 inventory slots free, right click rabbit - voila :D , now set speed back to normal walk speed or you run out of stamina very fast...

If they hopp away don't chase them, just click on the "peace circle" next to its picture on the left, then approach in the way described above...

Borka beat me to it.

But here is my extremely detailed guide on how to catch a rabbit anyway.

Doesn't have to be 7 tiles, you can catch them if you run long enough but sometimes they'll jump over a cliff and get away. Sneaky rabbits.

also, if short on inv space, walk up to rabbit -> set to run -> punchrabbit. then it ill only take up 1x2 inv space instead of 2x2 (little known pro-tip ;P)

That's because you kill it instead of you manually wringing it's neck

Once you get like 10+ exploration you'll be seeing lots of critters running around. Perception and Exploration go hand in hand in finding forageables and bunnies, rats, and chickens.

Chickens pop up on grassland/heath/moor,but not forest tiles. While bunnies can spawn on all of them.

Also, I have move bones than any newbie could ever use in a lifetime

This CAN work, but for newer players, it won't. Newer players won't have enough unarmed combat to break through the rabbit's defenses. Although they won't fight back, they do have a little UA and enough health a weak punch won't kill them.

The mandatory requirement for this to work is to have punch and 5 UA.

I was thinking it was something like 10 UA and 14 or 15 Str, but it's been a while since I bothered checking the lower bounds.

Critters have 1 UA. To damage a target with a punch alone at initial contact, you need to more than 4x the target. Since a critter only has 1 HP, a mere 5 UA should be enough to kill it, assuming you have full attack bar.

Also found a video that pertains to hunting rabbits. Even though we kind of iterated this multiple times, a video probably won't work.
