Clay/Water is valuable at Q40+, very good at Q60+, epic/end game tradable at Q70+

Soil is valuable at Q60, very good at Q75, end game tradable at Q90+

Sand is valuable at Q20-30, very good at Q40, and I've never even heard of a Q50+ node although I'm sure they exist.

It has more limited uses, but if you have Q40+ you're looking at something you could probably be making money off of for the entire world. If not in exactly huge amounts.

how sure are you? sand is a pretty rare terrain type, so overlapping with a soil quality node is less likely...personally I've never seen sand higher than mid 30's(and I just used high quality kiln/fuel to get higher glass), but its 1 of those things you don't really think about...

you see people complain all the time, but never see complaints about sand(quantity or quality). usually when I need sand I make an alt, have him dig in the creation room til his inventory is full then drop it into my kiln, and now that I'm reading this thread it has me thinking maybe we need more sand in the game.

Missed the past tense when I was typing that. I meant I'm sure it *has* existed at some point, but I've never seen higher than a low Q40 base.

You're right though, people don't care too too much since kiln/wood quality makes good enough glass eventually.

I knew you meant previous worlds...I haven't even found sand on the game map yet this world(what I meant about it being a rare terrain type)

IIRC sand uses clay quality map.

Sand is worthless as Q10 because you can dig it in the character creation room.
Pro tip to get sand, clogs, hats or linens, etc:
1. Make an alt with a HF outside your base.
2. Run in and out of the claim 'til 1 HHP.
3. Take off your shoes, die.
4. Inherit him, and in the char creation room get more clogs, hats, linens and sand (where sand is the only thing worth anything, but I sometimes use torches for the lulz so I need the other)
5. ???
6. Profit!

I don't understand why you need to die, why don't you just spawn an alt?

Who likes breaking hearthfires over and over?
In the early game, killing yourself is faster than breaking fires and anyway, you don't want your inherit room/account spammed with alts
