The data above shows the different stages of the game with some quick armor vs bow damage. Armor in the (parenthesis) is the total armor points and is the most interesting but it might also be interesting to look at the armor soak with damage found here (armor soak/armor soak with damage to armor)

Quick rundown of the different stages.
Early game. Avarage armor (285) armor and slings with very low aimspeed doing 160 damage. No point using ranged weapons.

Early midgame (810) armor points or (680) depending on armor vs 601 damage using bows with average aimspeed. You can damage the targets armor by getting in a few lucky shots with good hits but anyone with decent armor cant be killed with ranged attacks. Some armor types reduce agi so it might be easy to get in a few rounds of good shots to reduce armor points and do damage but it would mean the target needs to take multiple shots and still stick around.

Mid game (1325) armor points or (1345) depending on armor vs 848 damage from ranger bows. Clearly ranger bows are to week against that. Even a Q100 bow at that stage would only do 1254 damage and still not be enough. Anyone with decent armor would still be protected from ranged attacks. At this point people have alot of agi so its not easy to get in the high damage on them to damage the armor either. Yet still int midgame ranged attacks are useless VS well armored targets. The ranger bow also takes to long to aim so you would need to shoot a standing target several times to even do some decent damage to armor and start doing hits.

Endgame (1852) reported (2100) armor points vs 1600 damage from best ranger bows. At this Q you can aim fairly fast with a Rbow but your still coming out short by a larger margin then midgame. Ranged weapons still sucking hard against armored targets.

The only time ranged weapons are useful is if your attacking a non faction hermit with shit armor and your ranged weapon clearly being of higher caliber then his armor. Unless you go out with a 20 man ranger team and all aim for the same target and get in 20-60 good hits on the same target you will be able to kill a well armored target. Otherwise ranged weapons are shitz against decently equipped players.

In short. Ranged weapons works only on weakly armored players. Even then you might miss or do too little damage on the first few shots before the target reacts. Only if the target stands still for a very long period of time or if a very large number of players aim on the same target ranged weapons become useful vs well equipped targets.

Good analysis to sum up the current weakness of ranged combat.

Only people it's good against are people you're shit stomping anyway.

Can be useful in some situations, like when someone is trapped ( e.g. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=20633)

That's how I died in w5, to an Rbow while fighting trapped.

edit: Overall I consider Rbowing to be a support skill. To pick off lightly armored targets in the confusion of a fight.
