What is more likely, that archery in the game doesn't work at all and in several years nobody in the whole community noticed but you, or that you didn't understand how it works?

I suggest you take a quick look at some guides.

If you don't feel like it, here's the short version...any bow you can craft right now will be unable to hit anything at all. To get a decent shot at anything short of a caged stationary target, you need a bow of quality 25 and a skill of 50 Marksmanship. At the very very least. If you want to kill things from a distance use a sling.

Which we all cared about when we were new, Nooby! :P

Yeomanry isn't really that hard to get, I know 4k lp seems a lot when you start but it should only take a little while if you manage your lp wisely.

Your first priorities should be to get Yeomanry, then get walls around the area you intend to claim. Its just a fact of life in this game.

Feel lucky they didnt just kill you.

You will find this stated over and over to new ppl because it really is important, once you have made your base secure you will find it much easier to progress.
Until your wall is built store valuables in your inventory when you log off or on an alt.

None of the guides I read said anything about the first bow you make being useless, they all just said the longer you stand looking at something the better your chance at hitting stuff is. The gauge never moved for me after standing for like 2 minutes at a rabbit or fox.

As for getting the LP for Yeomanary, that'll be like 2 days to get since I like never find any random study stuff. I've been doing toy chariots which give me 1.4k but take 24h

Well, for the bow thing the aiming never moved because you have only enough skill to use a sling. You need 100+ Marksman to make use of a bow.

Toy chariots, dragonflies, ant soldiers, after you do this, then do: Ant empress, ant queen, ruby dragonfly, etc. (if you find them)
You should be set after a while
Also if you're one active guy, never be without a cone cow and dandelion
There you go, Yeomanry pretty quick.

The incrementable skills play a major role...the combat skills actually have to be in the 40-50s before you can safely fight/hunt most animals, and the others are a hard-or softcap.

If you don't raise your Exploration, you won't find anything to forage. Without at least 10 Survival, those forageables will always be of low quality. Without good Carpentry you can't make good woodcrafts and so on.

That's why playing in village makes it easier...everyone can specialize in one or two things and the others will provide for what he lacks.

I did have a buddy who was camped out next to me, but he went out to go hunt and died ( I actually saw his fire go out) and he's not one to use the gravestones.
