It's not legal if it can be destroyed!!
It's legal if you abuse things that aren't walls, as walls.
You CAN'T use water as defense. That was fixed. It was illegal.
It's STILL illegal to use statues as defense, doesn't matter it can be bashed, it's illegal because it's abuse of objects that aren't walls.

With enough bricks, you can make a mountain a HV that requires a week to break through.

You guys are over complicating it. If within reasonable boundaries of the game's mechanics a base can be breached, it is not illegal. If it is impossible to breach for any reason or would require bugs or an exploit to reach, it's illegal.

A brick wall on day 3 is not a vault while a brick wall surrounded with old world mining shafts is. The brick wall on day 3 can be rammed and broken by players playing the game. Short of a wall jump or dev nuke, no one was going to get into a vault surrounded by invulnerable mine shafts.

Actually, a vault is a place where you store your hearth fire so your main village doesn't get found.
It doesn't need mining holes around it to be a vault.
One of the devs said that it's illegal if it abuses auth objects in any way. Minehole isn't an auth object but it counts too, so I'd say it's illegal if it abuses non-wall objects as wall.
There was an underground vault with 1 and only 1 spot where you can build ram. IT WAS ILLEGAL.

The hardest vault to find/break-in I can think of is a layer 5 vault without any access to it (mineholes destroyed). Even this is theoretically considered legal since you can get there by building new mineholes.
Hope you have a great day

Nobody said this. It was just one example of several of what was an illegal vault. This was fixed by making mineshafts destructible, just like indestructible island vaults were fixed by not allowing players to pave within a tile of the shore.

Was that before or after the change to AUTH objects?

You remember about where/when this was stated? I had seen a couple of other builds at/near swamps that had made use of the same basic idea (can only RAM at a single point) and the devs never made a comment on it. Not to mention I can't think of a single possible way that this could even happen other than the perfect alignment of cave entrances.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

W6, someone made a HUGE brickwall with only 1 rammable place (it was completely statued except one place where statues circled a 3x3 floor in front of wall, so ram can only be built there)
It was nuked.

why do people always have to ask or define if something is legal or illegal?
listen to your conscience and play legit.
