but on the other side, you get to play an amazingly addictive survival sandbox game, that has risk and adventure, and that has a ton of depth that you are unlikely to find in any other game. and if you play right, and learn how to play this game and its many different aspects, you will enjoy it, and you wont be so bothered by death or losing things, cause you know you can regain then back easily enough. or you learn from what u did wrong.
There is so much more to Haven than raiders and murderers, it is definately worth playing! It sounds like you escaped and didn't die, so thats a good start.
The first time you die is always a bit offputting, there are people who will quit afterwards, mostly new people who haven't given the game a chance yet, if you stick with it you will find that death is really just a small part of playing the game and as you get used to the mechanics and learn to play - as Em has said - it won't be such an issue.
There are many ways to make yourself safer and you will learn to take precautions to add to your security, eventually you should be able to avoid it. I died three times in my first world but got through the whole of w6 without losing any chars, mainly through what i'd learnt.
This world I've been ko'd, chased and threatened but the only char i've lost so far was to an auroch and through my own stupidity -
Being a loner isn't a problem, I am a bit of a loner too. For the first six months I played I logged off everytime I saw someone, lol, and not because I was scared of dying, now though I talk to everyone I meet in game and through that have made some good friends and am able to help people like yourself who are new to the game, I find it quite rewarding.
It should be remembered that the game is also full of lovely, helpful people who are more than happy to assist you if you need it.
I hope you continue, if you do you will understand why this game is so addictively awesome!
Have fun and good luck!
