if you want safe I'd have to say:

outside the map and far inland away from water

you can pretty much measure safety with your distance to Brodgar - the closer you are, the less safe you are

being underground helps too

How I find safe places when I start a new character:
* To to find a place that is far away from active settlements (this is pretty obvious though)
* Zoom your mini-map all the way out and make sure that it cannot be seen from water.
* Try not to locate yourself too close to resource nodes, but remember that you will eventually have to access these so don't go too far.
* I don't know if this is common, but I've had people harass me early-game because I had a cave and they didn't. Think carefully about building near caves, I guess.

my tips.

- dont leave any scents that lead to your villige. Never. People will make "noob camps" near your place to provoke.

- make allies

- know the terrain

Pickard wrote:Why people playing HnH always search for a safe place? Its simple. Dont play this game.

That's nonsensical. It's not that they're completely risk averse, they just want to play but don't have the manpower to really defend themselves.

Pretty much just away from water and scout your area to be aware of any nearby settlements. Just need to be aware.

okay this is what i have...
safest way to play this game is by the river...
build a boat and hunt near the rivers...
because if you dont and you settle far inland most likely those that want to kill you already have such things as traspass and stuff...
build beside a swamp too (i live beside a swamp and a river) the emerald dragonflies provide great amount of lp for beginner players...
being beside a river gives you an easy and fast escape route...
What? but you say greifers and stuff will come from the river? then build in the forest beside the river and swamp so you can build a palisade fast...
ppl say palisades are bad and stuff... but not really... since about 95% of the ppl and prolly 99% of the griefers from that ppl need a battering ram to destroy a palisade and it takes 24 hours to actually move or use a battering ram... then if your active its really easy to destroy this.... so just be active....

for me very far from water is hard because it be hard to hunt for beginner players... since ranged is the safest way to hunt... and it would be hard to bring a boat all the way to a river that is 50 miles away... plus fishing is also recommended for new players

so all i wanted to say basically is live beside a swamp and river on a forest...
swamp = healing hhp with leeches and great LP source for beginners
river = great food source since you can hunt safely and run away really fast if needed... also fishing which is great source of FEP
forest = will give you a boost on wood since you need to build a palisade really fast

what exactly you need to do is this...
make a character... and start looking for a location with rivers wood and swamp - 1hr
start getting nature in your personal beleif slider. this could take around 2 full days to complete - 0+48 hrs (if you dont have time just get enders client and go afk)
catch some emerald dragonflies and reasearch them eache takes 4 hours and has a base of 800 lp gain...
once you have full nature and change slider you should be able to get 2400 lp from them
so we need Plant lore, Farming, and Yeomanry which is about 5000 lp that can be bought with 3 emerald dragonflies at full slider - 12 hrs
(boat building too since you need boats)
now we need land... thats up to you but i recomend buying atleast 10000 lp of land for your claim which is about 4 emerald dragonflies - 16 hrs
now go and build your palisade... you can get bone glue by hunting up and down the river for chickens and rabits for bone material -1 hr (do this on day time)
if you still dont have a couldron then you can get pottery and then go through the river and look for grass lands or those flower lands thingies then dig on the shallow water for clay that can be used to build a cauldron - 1 hr
once you build a corner post which should take around 1 more hour then you have to wait 2 ingame days which are 16 hours - 17hrs
then build the whole palisade (inside your claim) - 1 hr

Total = 3 active hours from just replenishing yout curiosities, coming back from afk mode and putting up points on your Personal beleif slider and also looking for the specified place to stay
9 active hours from building stuff and progressing...
3 more active hours from hunting food and stuff
72 inactive hours of curio eating and personal beleif time accumulating and also palisade
thats 15 hours of gaming and 72 of gaming plus RL or other games XD

from here your on your own... just stay away from strangers and kin them as fast as possible if you can... stay on rivers too since its a very fast way to get food and escape
GL

(sorry if my english is terrible XD)

@ Rinsusuro
awesome when a newish player recommends all the things experienced players recommend to avoid ;)

since about 95% of the ppl and prolly 99% of the griefers from that ppl need a battering ram to destroy a palisade

Wonder how you got those numbers ...

100% - 400 players
50% - 200 players
25% - 100 players
my guess is about minimum 50 players are able to Palibash - that's about 12% ;)

Theres no safe place really, but dont worry much about it
there is mor raid in the forums and other places than ther is on the actual game O.o (well atelast on my case)
but if you are really afraid of ppl killing you (well you should) and you dont want to play if you die then i recommend minecraft or terraria :3
