Well, being able to build on grass doesn't do me much good. I seem to be stuck in an endless sea of forest. Started here, no one around for ages. Although i found a failry advanced walled place up the river about 10 minutes real time away.

Forest is the main terrain and covers most of the ground. You'll find other terrains as small and big "islands" everywhere. Just search long enough and you'll end up in a suitable location.
