Thanks for the help. I now have a boat so taking a trip up to them is easy. Still no idea how to contact them though. IS it possible to find out which username has made the claim?

Something you should try is a rune stone. Place it in an Obvious place so they cant miss it (right in front of their door)

Telling them your Username so that they might PM You.

Good idea, except they have used every stone outside there border as a runestone already with diferent soil quality markings..... :)
But I just found my first windblown windseed. So I guess I can just work from here. I have done everything else myself so I guess I could just work for the hard slog and do it gradually.

MORE IMPORTANTLY: I read elsewhere that you can plant grass and make cows spawn, since I seem to be trapped in a huge endless forest surrounded by endless whitemap swampy stuff I would like to go back to thier village and dig up some grass they seems to have planted outside their border to get seeds. Is this the right way to get grass seeds or are they only found as windblow seeds as well?

Actually you can plant grass from any seed. So when you dry out the WWW you could plant that see as grass. What i would suggest tho is keep lvling up Exploration so you can find more WWWs so you can get a farm.

I have found 4 www so far and i got 2 tea seeds and a Flax.

But if your really set on Grass then what ever seed you get from the WWW i would plant as a seed so you get Two back. then PLant the both of those and so on. Then plant your grass field.

Im guessing but i would say that you have to have at least a small fiend for the animals to spawn there.

Ok, so grass comes from any seed. In that case I will start crop farming first. Animals can come later, considering I just got my ass handed to me by a fox. Thanks for the quick replies too.

If you are surrounded by jungle (that white area on the minimap?), you might seriously consider moving to greener/tanner/pinker pastures--bringing tamed animals home through the jungle would probably be a pain.

As long as you have a dream, you can always build a new hearthfire in a new location and start over (I have done this twice so far and it isn't that painful--plus you get all that lovely LP from the new construction). A little hearth magic allows you to build a dream catcher if you need more.

Its forest terrain, but travelling outwards leads to wierd swampy looking places with long grassy stuff that I can't move very well through. If I find metal nearby I will stay. Until then I am content doing as much work as possible in the current area. truth be told I have no idea where to go or even where I am. I need a bigger map or somehting. Would love to make contact with my neighbours. Is there any way to find out where I am in the greater world or where the towns are? I take it that in previous maps everyone spawned in the same starting place. But now I am starting to feel quite isolated, I want to trade or interact with other players somehow.

Well the best was to get in contact with your neighboors is by walking around looking for them. then when you find them leave a rune stone asking for them to contact you.

And if you find a town then you post in the forum either under the towns thread or a freash one asking to establish contact and or trade.
