Where in the world is "Blackthorn silver"?

Oh? I haven't met any of them yet, but there's an English hermit guy who lives near them and he says they are generally friendly. I was thinking of trying to trade with them, since I'm desperate for some metal bars.

So I'm near the center of the map, eh... damn. Was hoping I had travelled towards the edge, but it sounds like I've settled even further inland.

So far, my experience has been as follows:

Blackthorn villagers: friendly and helpful, willing to trade.
Ethan: guy who leads unarmed, unarmored, innocent people (me) into skirmishes with mine guards against my knowledge.

I've learnt a lesson in trusting strangers today.

I ran across them today, and I found them kind. As in any case though, it was sketchy, as right after giving me free food goods, they went and attacked ethan right in front of me....Anyways, I found them nice and helpful.

Hi guys. Yep, we are russians. So what? What a lie are you talking about? When you tried to capture our mine, we advanced you, but was very tired. We placed runstone, but got no answer. Why you think we must stay and watch how you capture our mine without any word? Sorry, when you answered, we have already returned our mine and set our term - if you want get acces to our mine - you may share yours.
Also, we are really friendly, but will not give our property to everyone passer. We even make public tin iron on the east (Hi, Nao, thanks for returning mine).

As an unwitting witness, I can back that up. They were just defending their mine.

Whoever was on duty there, I thank you for only taking a warning shot at me as I fled. I had no idea what was going on.

I'm fairly new, and blackthorn is the first and only village I've reached at the moment.
From my experience, they are good people to trade with, friendly and very helpful.
Because of them my little "tribe" is doing great, as we aren't even close to getting our own metal and some other stuff.

Hi, Shagrath! I know you! (Edit: Er, my memory list says otherwise. Maybe you're the friend Roshan mentioned? Still, I know I live in the area, so I stand by my thread necromancy.)

Anyway, I can attest to being told not to go down a certain river by two armed guards. Never asked where they were from, but it was north of where I'm told Blackthorn is.

That said, they didn't hit me or anything, and I'm told by a Mr. Flynn that they're nice folks. (I owe Flynn and Shag for various supplies, so let's hereby all vouch for each other.)

P.S. even less on-topic: if I understand correctly, there're tin/iron mines run by the town? Rather than munch carrots and search the globe for our own mine, my friend and I could use a metal source...we're pretty new, but willing to sell crops and non-metallic crafts. Eigo's into carpentry, I'm in charge of food and clothing. (Similarly, anyone in the area is free to look us up. Just don't burn down the forest like the previous tenants.)
