I assume you have the seeds you need so exploration isn't necessary. You need to have winemaking skill to plant grapes. Otherwise you only need to pump up farming.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

You need to raise farming constantly, but you don't have to get too far ahead of your crop q (5 points better than your best crop is enough). A farmer can also make good use of cooking and sewing, to process what he harvests.

Because this topic is seeing a lot of traffic, what type of farming level would a village see usually in a farmer? (I've seen 50 thrown around but would other villages/town see that as a good point?)

i think it was said before, but there is no farming point whee you should stop. Keep raising it. I'm at 53 now and still getting it higher, though i think i'll work on other skills a bit at the side

Sewing and Cooking are both good secondary skills, since most farming products get turned into cloth or food.

I'm a farmer but I also do many other things. To my farming though I have found Farming (mine is currently 73), sewing, cooking and construction are all very important to my overall farming work. From trees, to use of linen, to the ability to make better wood objects (Like wine press and hebalist table, ect) All fatctor in to my overall ability on farming and the secondary jobs I enjoy that stem from my farming. I gues it is all according to your desires in the game, I like being a jack of all trades so aside from mining/hunting, I enjoy doing everything else.

What exactly is the point of higher quality food? I was originally under the impression that higher quality gave more FEPs, but I've been farming a while now, and I've watched my FEPs, and I don't see any difference between the points given by a q10 carrot and a q35 carrot. I've not noticed the difference between meat butchered when I first started hunting or now with 30 survival either. I benefit from the higher straw and plant fibers, but I don't understand the crops themselves.

thats amazing then because the difference between my q 10 and q 60 carrots was 1fep and 2.7fep

sure its 2.7times the fep for 6 times the q and it slows down even more as q goes higher but depending on your farmer its just as easy to make q10 as q 100 once you got enough points invested and seperated your best carrots of each batch for replanting to make the next one better
