forget the sausages - they require either successful domestication or successful hunting moufflons, and on top of that, a meat grinder made with metal. you're better off with low-tech food:
carrots , boiled eggs(pure perception FEPs), and peas (strength and perception FEPs 1:9, no strength if quality<10).
carrot pies use butter which requires milk, so you'll have to successfully domesticate an auerochs into a cow first. pea pies give constitution and charisma FEPs, making them rather a waste of peas. spring stew gives perception and charisma, making it rather a waste of 2 carrots and 2 peas per unit.

also grab stinging nettles - they work the same as taproots and are obtained with the same foraging skill. for a sling having 5 taproots and nettles together works fine, their difference lies in fishing and clothes-making.

But you can make clothes out of Stinging Nettle, that are -1 agility and +1 survival, I think.

You really don't need to improve perception to find taproot. Get your exploration up to about 5 and you won't have any trouble. It's really easy to find. You'll want to improve your perception at some point most likely, so the advice here is still good, but yeah, taproots and nettles are the easiest things to find, don't need much per x exp at all.
