Hi,

I just started playing this week and plan to upgrade my hermitage to a barricade soon. This means I'm going to chop down a lot of trees. My question: do they regrow on their own in forest area? I know I could plant them myself (but don't want to bother). If not, are there any major disadvantages or advantages in clearing the near vicinity of my hermitage?

No, they don't regrow. The forest terrain will change into grassland, which is worse for hunting, but if you leave some trees around it won't. The only other bad effect is that you'll be easier to find on the minimap if you clear a wide circle around your place.

Some of my base attributes are altered on a way I can't understand, and I noticed some of them didn't change until I "leveled up" (intelligence 100%, maybe also constitution and strengh, all the stats that are not affected by my equipment but altered nontheless).

My stats are
strengh 16 (17-1 ???)
Agility 15 (18-3, leather armor)
Intelligence 18 (17+1 ???)
Constitution 17 (18-1 ???)
perception 18
charisma 11
dextery 14
psyche 10

I am also very hungry, a bit unhappy (both of which shouldn't affect me) and a little under my maximum health.
Is my health affecting the attributes? Is this a bug?

what skill is required to use a quern?

I know this sounds weird but i just made an alt to plant my trees, but I had to take tobacco out of the herbalist table(so he discovered tobacco) but can't use a quern to grind it

One of these two. I'm inclined to say farming, though the wiki says the skill is unknown. If you find out, please share! Baking is required to grind wheat into flour and you don't need stoneworking for that, so I'm going to make the assumption the tobacco is the same.

It's a big world and there's usually only about 300-400 people online at one time right now. Open up the global chat (Ctrl + C) to at least converse with others or join the IRC channel. The details for the IRC channel is in the "Welcome to H&H" thread stickied at the top of this forum. If you're truly on an island, odds are there isn't anyone on the island with you. (Just to note, most land areas are usually surrounded on 4 sides by rivers if you travel far enough.)

for tobacco, stone working isn't needed, just farming
