I have been using a cauldron which I nicked for a long time, and now I have my hand on some extra (q10) clay.
Should I build it? I know of the discovery bonus and recipe unlocks, and I have already kiln+oven, is there anything worth saving it for?

About clay:
°There is a mudflat near my settlement, but It seems to have no veins: is this possible?
°There is also a swamp here, and iirc the wiki states one type of swamp has clay: which tipe is it? (pics if possible)
^also, do you need a certain per*exp to see shallow water?

ql 10 clay is not worth saving for anything. It's the lowest quality clay possible. Surely you can find some better

Why wouldn't it be possible for a mudflat to have no veins? As common as metal veins are they don't have to appear everywhere. Or do you mean quality nodes for clay? Those don't depend on terrain, they can be anywhere, and they are not that common either.

I can't recall any type of swamp having clay, give us a link to a wiki page saying otherwise.

Shallow water is this bright water near shore, you don't need anything to see it (except your eyes that is)

I wasn't able to find any better nodes but

I have been looking for clay nodes only in mudflats, I didn't know there could be clay anywhere.

I think I misread the wiki
wiki wrote:Find a shallow water tile to start, preferable relatively close to your home. Dig at the spot for a single clay. If it stops diging after the first or second attempt, then you need to move approxmately 2 minimaps towards a direction and try again. Keep doing this until your character constantly dig at a location without stopping..

When you do find it, decrease the length of the tiles between search to about 5 tiles. If the quality decreases, move the other direction. Continue to dig towards the direction while the quality increases until it starts to decrease again.

this is what the wiki says; problem is, I can't find any shallow water.
What other method would you recommend to find clay?

shallow water are those light blue tiles on the shores of rivers and lakes. On every shore, except in cave lakes.

any water source(river, lake, ocean) has an edge that is a lighter color than the rest. sometimes its hard to see, but its always there...

just dig as far out in the water as you can walk and you'll get ball clay. if its higher quality than 10 it means you're on a node and you can continue digging clay there.

as far as your cauldron goes, I don't believe you get discovery points for making 1, and you can make anything that needs a cauldron while never having made 1.

Nope, nothing under the "Build" menu gives you discoveries, only crafted items and items collected in their proper manner (or from buying from a stand).

Let's just put it simply: Make sure you don't have swimming (or have it turned off if you did buy it). Walk out into a river or lake--you can only go so far. Any of these spaces you can wade in you can dig for clay. My suggestion is to check about every 50-75 tiles for clay. This is about half to 3/4 of the mini map shown in the client. Much more than that and you can miss a node.

Oh I though clay was only on those bright spaces like on the wikis image on the clay page. I once again misunderstood the wiki.

No, that image is just showing you how to spot Grey Clay and Cave Clay when you get your exploration and perception up high enough.

wondering bout something silly:

A person (X) can give acces to person (Z) to X's personal claim. (using the colours)
Is this also possible within a village? This means without the other person (Z) being in a party with (X)

Thanks

Not silly at all to wonder about. You actually have no control over such things in a village. Either you're a member with full privilege or you're a non-member with none. There is nothing in-between. Personal claims overrule village claims though so if you use them in combination you can get the control levels that you're looking for.
