Because, without a mine support you'll most likely die. Cave-ins don't damage armor, so you only need 1 bear cape and talisman. Boar and bear meat are easy and cheap way of getting enough strength for a miner alt in the beginning. Once you find ore and make first support, switch to your main, industrial character to do the rest of the mining.
OH and not to mention, you don't want unbalanced stats on your main, so to quickly start mining you need an imba strength alt.

Its generally safe to mine a single tile in a cave. Getting metal from doing that though will get hard, and you may experience a cave-in, though.

But one cave in can. You can get hit with more than one rock in a cave in.

Mining

Postby Skyrise99 » Mon Oct 07, 2013 10:56 pm

So like I found this abandoned town with a mine in it but when i go down there its all like "This rock is much to hard for you to mine" and stuff like that and I have no idea what to do. It's like I need a pick but I cant make a pick without the metal that I cant mine. So yeah if someone could give me a hand that would be appreciated.

Cheers, Skyrise99
