Hrm, good question. I've never tried to use a dream catcher in a house before but it should. Sometimes dream catchers suffer from being unusable by certain players for whatever reason, likely a minor bug. Perhaps try to move it around a bit and then right click it?

Should do, we used to keep ours in the cellar (this world). They only got moved out because someone wanted an infinite quantity of cupboards....
