If Sevenless were still around, he'd say "You're welcome", but he's not.

You should really read through the discussion, too, once you start getting comfortable with things to see various opinions on the way things can be done.

I've been reading around the forums lately after starting to talk to a couple old friends. No character in World right now, considering investigating Salem if/when it comes out though.

Quite probably, however the guide is a very reliable way to get your feet off the ground, it's not always going to be the best one, but it will work fairly well in most scenarios. I've been wiki diving and stuff but I haven't sat down and tried to pick through other optimal starting strategies. I guess I need to at some point.

The guy I'm playing with and I are hoping for another 4-6 weeks of this world so we can experience most of the content short of absolute endgame. When the world restarts, assuming it doesn't happen the week I'm out the country, we're going to meet up and then just travel together for several hours, I guess we'll gather the knowledge to make a boat and hop in one. At the moment we're not villagebound, but we are slightly specialised and already providing things for each other via limited but not total specialisation, it's a pretty fun compromise between a hardcore village and the variety of hermiting. I can already think of a few things we'd do differently during that restart, during the first few days and several things not in the guide that seem like must have options for the way we're going. I suspect during the run up to this I'll pick through the discussion.

Just a warning, don't expect a restart any time soon =)
They really are a rare thing and do not happen casually on a whim. From what we can tell, the server hardware is stable and backed up so there won't be any restarts due to corruption or massive loss of data. As well, it doesn't look like there will be game altering changes that warrant a restart either. You should have as many months as you'd like to try the game out and really gather your bearings to have a fun play.

Edit: Also hiyas Sevenless, good to see you around again and hope you're doing well!

The longer, the more prepared I am for the next restart. At this point in time a restart would be fairly bad for me. Also it's been 6 months per world for the last 2 worlds, I honestly wouldn't expect a restart for another 2 months minimum.

World 4 was actually only about 7 weeks. W5 was about 6 months. Compare that to W3, which ran for well over a year.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
