Left click.

Also make sure you actually opened up your equipment tab and dragged the string -onto- the fishing pole equipped on one of your hands, and then drag the hook as you did the string -onto- the fishing pole, and then the bait the same. There's a lot of misconception that you have all that stuff, considering it looks like it on your character outside of the equipment tab.

If that's not the case, I direct you to the top of my reply.

One more thing, if you're traveling upstream by foot, there's often complications with fishing in the shallow/deep when on land, you can usually go all the way in the shallow and spam left click until you see your character fishing. If you're in a boat, left click anywhere and your character and boat will move to that location and fish.

Thank you. i got mixed up with right click is action and left is walk. I caught a brill :)

No problem, and grats :D

Catch some Sturgeon! Feast! Haha.

Neon14 wrote:Perhaps you should try getting your survival up instead, and hunting for a higher Q ranging hide animal, like a bear or even a deer/boar will suffice. If you have higher survival and a decent axe you can make good enough leather armor without it extremely soft capping it with sewing. You should be able to do it right now, if you have at least 15 UA the boar will take 2 hits with stomp to get your defense down or so, so it's not extremely threatening, I still recommend armor and a boat nearby to escape to.

My survival is at 14 and my sewing is at four, my axe I recently upgraded to 12q (the other one I've had since I started o.o). My main I'm using as my farming character so I've invested most points that haven't gone in Exploration or Marksmanship into Farming.

Bears? Eek. I've only downed foxes and aurochs with my sling. I'm a bit scared of combat so I focus on my marksmanship.

I've had my food trough not completely full but with food all the time. My female at q19 food, the male at 12, and I tamed a sheep the other day who's still at 10 this morning. As well, do you have to build multiple troughs if you separate the animals, or will one within the radius of all the pens suffice? I would like to separate them once the populations grow but I don't want to do so without knowing whether that has an effect.

One other little thing about terms: so does "softcap" only bring the quality down while a hardcap means it just can't go higher than that?

Bears are easy, my old farmer friend downed a bear with a Q 19 sling and 6 marksmanship, it took a long time, sure, but it's still worth it to take that long. And a Softcap can potentially raise quality too, it just means it's -softly- effected by this or that skill, usually quality of ingredients matters the most.

A food trough with animals in it's radius will always feed the animals, and the animals will always feed from the food trough first. It's likely your cow is pregnant, in that case, it's going to on on bitch-fits and want a lot of dessert ;)

If the Mouflon hasn't re-aggro'd you've either 1. Attacked the Mouflon AFTER you use Quell the Beast 2. Were not in range with it when it went to re-aggro.

Also, get moar survival! It's like, the base stat of hermitting! x)

I've got a q11 sling and 20 marksmanship. :P So what do you do with bears? Should you kill them from a boat like boars? I don't think I've even seen a bear yet...

Though what if you run out of stones?

Same way as boars.

If you run out of stones, try to find a nearby boulder (make sure it's on the other side of the river) and use that

Okay :)

I think this will be the last one lol. I was just wondering, the 5x5 radius for trees, can the radius overlap? Like, does each tree need a 5x5 area or can I space the trees out with two spaces between them as long as there's nothing within the 5x5 area?

I think you are mistaken about this... softcaps only decrease the quality or keep it as is (in case your skill is higher than the quality of the product). At least none of the softcaps I know allow the quality to be increased in case your skill is higher.

The areas can overlap, as long as there isn't any solid object in the area. If you want some tree farm layouts, check:

Softcaps will NEVER raise quality, only lower it. Examples are survival on butchering corpses, farming on harvesting crops, etc. Otherwise, the skill/attribute combo is actually a part of the quality formula. (I can't think of a case where the skill/attribute combo actually increases quality.) It's known as a "softcap" because it don't create a ceiling on the quality of the item, only partially lower the quality. Compare to the general definition of a hardcap--butchering a bear with a hardcap of 20 would mean you only get q20 hide, meat, and bones.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Well that makes me feel dumb, I was always told a soft cap is a a factor that raises quality or lowers in it conjunction with the quality of the ingredients and base attributes.

Always learning, thanks :)
