You only need one Rooster/Cock per coop as far as I know. Mine has one Rooster and many Hens and my coop steadily produces eggs and chicks.dageir wrote:Silly question:
Are hens and cocks monogamous?
I have one cock and several hens in the coop, but only one hen lays eggs.
Do I have to get alot more cocks?
Each hen will take around 1 real life day to lay an egg. Be sure to leave a space below the hen or it will not give an egg
Hens will lay eggs without a cock in the Chicken Coop, but they will not be fertilized.
Note that Hens must have a space directly below them to lay eggs and fertilized eggs must be under the hens for it to hatch. The timer will stop after some time, if there is no chicken above the egg. Chicks must have a 2x2 tile space, a total of 4 tiles, to mature into chickens.
From the wiki.
However, I don't know if having more Roosters in the coop makes the eggs hatch faster. Like, it takes time for a rooster to fertilize an egg? or once layed and egg automatically becomes fertilized and the timer starts counting down for it to hatch if a Rooster is present in the coop?
