Defend against using village claims to jump over walls?

Imagine this.
A small island in the middle of a lake, brick wall all around the edge, making it impossible for the construction of a ram. The only thing that can get you is a brick-basher. Oh and enemy rangers have a lot less places to hide (except against your wall).
