2 irl hours. just check on them every 15-20 minutes until you get a good idea of how long they'll take.

dang that's a hella long time...and 16 nets you 1k exp in 2 hours....i guess if you can just let them be and then gain exp some other way it would be good...any other ideas?

Well, you can work on other things while you wait. Or you could build so many herbalist tables that you can constantly plant trees.

yeah you only need to check on them a lot until you figure out about how long they take.
