Just take one glance at the stats thread from the last world and you will see that a balance is the best way to go.
Unarmed is what determines your defense, unless you are using a shield. It's strong, especially if you use knock his teeth out, and with the new knuckle weapon and soldier gauntlets, it looks very interesting. You can kill cows and foxes by trapping them in a gate, until you get enough strength and armour to fight them like a man. (You don't need coins to use punch which is useful for getting enemies defense down)
Melee is stronger, but you need unarmed for maneuvers. Probably the best for getting through hearthlings' armour.
Marksmanship is good for killing animals from a boat or fencing them up and killing them. (doesn't work in PVP unless you are behind a fence, because now if you get even bumped you lose your aim, and they can just run around while they are waiting for their next move to charge and your aim will go down aswell. For summoning someone over a wall, this skill will come in handy if the criminal is too noob to know to hide their hearthfire in their house).
