That's interesting, if you're using Gilbertus, then it should let you do that, it works for me.
Also, make sure you enter only :sfxvol with a space before the number. So; :sfxvol_1.
Besides that, i don't know.

My girl friend has turned hers off too, via the settings menu, and disabled the sound but it still plays when she goes indoors... any answers?
