I got another question... are there any tactics to finding rabbits? I've been walking around for hours haven't found a single rabbit... I really need that bone for the saw, can't progress further without planks

No, I've seen rabbits in grasslands, unless they spawn in forests nearby and travel a ways.

Anyhow... the best way to get a bone.. (must... resist...)

*ahem*, I'd keep just wandering around, exploring, and hopefully you'll see a rabbit sooner or later. If you have grasslands or heath nearby you might want to wander those, and see if you get any flocks of chickens there, those are also good for bones (and caught in the same way as rabbits, although they won't give you hide for leather). Or in the process of wandering, you might even come across skeletons/corpses of animals people have killed, but haven't wanted to take all the stuff from.

Search those to find chickens or rabbits to satisfy your bone needs. Uh, don't try to get bones from chicks though, you kind of... you'll see.

Because empirical anecdotes don't make for good arguments or evidence and are why the wiki keeps having wrong information added to it.

To add some question so I don't need to open a new thread.
I decided I'll focus on foraging/farming/cooking and as such I read that I need a lot of perception.

Since I just started out I read that carrots are the best to increase perception.

I take it I need to plant carrot seeds to grow carrot. And the only way I can obtain those seeds is by luck from drying a Wild Windsown Weed (not to mention it's probably hard to find a WWW)?
I also take it once you found a carrot seed you can just get more carrot seeds from the grown carrots?

Can you advise me any further on being a farmer/cook/forager? What would be the best way to start in those professions?
