That said, I don't hesitate to use these programs. It's an alpha, and I assume eventually they will close up these loopholes.

Considering how this game's graphics are effectively server based just as a web page is, if they really wanted to get rid of the night vision, they very well could. The nightvision was a very, very easy workaround in the client. The downside would be an even heavier load on the server. Nobody wants to see more lag than there already is.

Honestly, I don't know why anyone wouldn't use one of the custom clients.

If your using a mod, your not playing what the game`s developer has envisioned, your playing what someone else thinks it should be. Especially in an Alpha. I like playing the vanilla just so you can experience first hand the development and evolution of the game.

Not to say mods are a bad thing, they can add a lot to a game... It`s just that when they give "advantages" to those who choose to not use the original client, they can be unfair. Even if they are publicly available. Either way, I'm sure loopholes will be fixed, like has been said. Heck, it might be that it's planned to have a feature to see behind things... Tho I kind of liked that you couldn't, it means you can spy on people if your sly enough XD

So ? I wasn't directly talking to him... I was just defending my position. Why does that matter ? ( don't mean to sound like an arse, I'm just curious why you pointed that out... )

so, you are saying that you are using the inferior client because of your desire to adhere to the dev's vision of the game. meanwhile, one of the two devs is endorsing the custom clients. the other one of those two devs (loftar) is the one that coded the original client, and due to his hatred of UI work, and own admission that the client, quite frankly, sucks, released the source of the client to be modded. remarkable improvements have been made.

Custom Client is the only way to go. I wish I had know about them during world four. The fact the trees get in the way of interacting with items behind them alone makes it well worth it. Honsetly I think the only issue with custom clients for game play is the night vision. Other than that, yay it makes seeing things easyer but considering there is only one view, it enhances the game play from fustrating aspects.

Ah, I see... I misread that quote.

Either way, I can't be bothered. Plus, the aforementioned tree thing makes me feel like a spy

LOL. It's not so much the spying, it's as Collock said. It's just entirely too much of a pain to find things in dense forests without hiding the trees or making things transparent. Some of the other bonuses are nice, though I do agree they break the spirit of the game. (Nightvision being one) However, the competitor in me prevents me from honoring rules that really have no real weight in the world--such as darkness--especially when so many others are ignoring the same rule with no penalties. (Botting, however, is one thing I'm always hesitant to do for the same reasons that world 4 got killed.)
