you can milk as many times as you want when you have clovers to feed.

you may not want to consider him/her a vet... you can milk as many times as you want when you have clovers to feed.

Yep, you're right, lol, he just got back to me to say it was only tame cows that have a limit on their milk, so still no answer to the mystery. I'm going with potjeh's reply.

... Good ... was about to pull my own hair ...

Thought for a short time that pulling hairs from there behind did not agro them ... until I got killed again.

(Randomness is so beautiful. You can roll a million snake-eyes ... and still have no proof of anything.)

you cannot milk an aurochs without animal husbandry. for that matter you wont be able to feed it a clover in the first place.
Now, in order to harvest aurochs hairs, you need a boat for escape and shallows to stand in. you will also need either unarmed combat or some ranged way to attack.
i like to trap the herd and only pull one at a time, and since that's the safest way, that's what i suggest. with one aurochs free, place a signpost on the river bank, stand in the deepest shallows, and initiate combat. once the aurochs is in the water, creep away to the other side of your sign post. now you have an aurochs trapped in a corner made by the water and your signpost. watch for twitches, as you would while taming or fighting stronger animals. as soon as you see a twitch, cross the signpost and pull a hair-- never leaving the shallows except for the split second you're pulling the hair--.
voila, if you managed to click four times in 5 seconds, you should successfully be back in the shallows with a pretty tuft of hair. escape in your boat and come back after the herd de-aggros. rinse, repeat. (be sure to trap the aurochs you just harvested. should be obvious, but i myself have forgotten a few times.)
also, i've heard feeding an aurochs grapes while in combat with it will cause it to immediately become a tamed cow, and also it drops gold nuggets... and your character gains 3 levels in psyche. but that's just what i heard.
