My strength is currently only nineteen. Also, I can't catch up to the runaways, only attack them once they finally stop running. Is punching still a better option than slinging?

Nineteen should do.

What movement speed do you use? While running (3th speed) you move faster than boars (and fox and deers?). Keep some water with you, you can drink while moving.

You can either run and punch, or you can sling when he's on an island or somewhere you can hold up so he doesn't run too far into the forest (you don't want him to aggro you without having an escape way)
You can also get off your boat, stand behind him and sling then so he runs towards the shore. try to keep him close to your boat for escaping.

only do these things when you're lets say at least 40ua. also watch out he doesn't catch yo while you're moving. when you notice he'll hit you, stand still for a second until he's oit of attack.
Hope you have a great day

Hmmm, well I am now 12 in UA, but five minutes ago I was at 0 and didn't have the skill either. I guess the next couple of curiosities I finish will be tossed into UA. I still wonder if my UA and strength are going to be no better than my q18 sling and 20 marksman. Do you still think that the punching would be more effective?

Well, that didn't quite work as hoped.... first it ko'd me and then when I got back up again I hit it twice with stones before it took off and never came back leaving me with 2/10/144 in hit points. Under those circumstances I decided to forgo trying to locate it again in the dark. I can't run as fast as it could in forest terrain, so that is probably one reason it didn't absolutely work as described. But nothing daunted; my character is still alive and soon or or later I'll get the hang of it.

Any pointers are still appreciated...

Before someone asks:
Dondy wrote:World1 - no deaths (although for awhile I thought every time I was ko'd by foxes I had died and was on a new character when I got up)
World2 - no deaths
World3 - pvp (sacrifice alt I sent into a village to see if the raider had left yet)
World4 - no deaths
World5 - no deaths

I never use a client that gives x-ray vision or night vision, -snip-

don't chase boars, click the olive branch and he'll stop next time it hits a tree/rock/stump/ledge/anything with a hitbox. when he stops aim again and shoot, when you shoot you'll probably kill him. if not run back to your boat if he chases you, or click the olive branch if he runs away...repeat til dead!

edit: Borka you snipped the best part:

Not at hunting, I'm not!

Ah, thank you SuperNoob - same technique for boars as for rabbits, got it!

@SuperNoob
Different from others i don't have much fun in exposing ppl and my main matter of concern was why Dondy's not using nightvision (CTRL+N)

Habit, mostly. Back when I started playing there were no alternative clients, and my understanding was that we got to play this game for free because they needed play testers. Using alternate clients sort of broke that contract since it meant I'd be play testing the alternate client, not the one I had been asked to test. Of course, as soon as J & L ditched the default client and started using Ender's my spurious moral high ground became rather mushy. By now I play without night vision because I like the rhythm of dark and light and the atmosphere it gives me, and I'll be darned if I play on easy. But this is hubris at best and closer to masochism than pride.
