That's not completly true. If you You have a leanto and a sprucebed you can lift bed and crate put them into the leanto by righclicking it while you have those lifted. To log off you now righclick that leanto and chose "sleep" and it will log you out. As long as your char sleeps in there taking the crate from the leanto is considered a crime.
Also you can set a heartsecret and spawn an alt from your own account (log in and just create another account like you did with your first). this one can hold all stuff you dont want to lose (by beeing offline).

Can that not be stolen from in exactly the same manner, negating any benefit it should bring?

It's a stopgap until you learn Yeo and get a claim up. Stuff stored in a leanto and then logged out in requires the criminal act theft.

It can still be stolen, but it's like having a mini-claim up and is certainly better than leaving your unclaimed valuables simply out in the open.

Then again, people can just wreck the leanto.

"Dang, are your wagons that slow?"

If I wanted to get a load of bull from you I'd have brought my cows for you to impregnate!

Should require vandalism if I remember correctly.

Still an act of theft or vandalism, both of which are summonable. Some random players aren't going to go through that, and a complete noob character probably isn't worth the effort or risk.

In the case of the ones that do go through the effort, there's a good chance they'll wreck the lean-to, the hearth fire, and build something over where they were so you have to spawn somewhere randomly. This effectively kicks you out of the area without killing you and lesser chances of being caught and summoned.

We really can't stress enough reading the new player guides and following them. It's a fun game once you can get established and learn how to play, but a thorough lack of knowledge will drive you out before you can figure out if you like the game or not.

As for getting the LP for Yeomanary, that'll be like 2 days to get since I like never find any random study stuff. I've been doing toy chariots which give me 1.4k but take 24h

But in this guides they never say shoot the rabbit, though.
I really not reccomend you to settle, before you get basic forager stats, exploration + survival to 20 AND boatbuilding THEN yeomanry; you will able to find some better spot (soil, water, clay) this way. And your woes about all your mere posessions lost is just stupid - you have nothing valueable at that point.

I had this same problem, this guy came and looted me all the time whenever i was off he went down to my friend and offer'd my stuff to him -_- .... I've found his hearth fire and soon I will break it.

Although now I got yeoman so it's all good for me.
