This is getting even more retarded... I heard that you need Survival too for treeplanting. :/
That's 3 skills you need for a lumberjack. (if you want to specialize... add Dexterity for pots)

It is not survival that you need for treeplanting, it is farming. That survival thing is just a rumor someone started.

my dex doesn't seem to affect clay stuff, if i make an unburnt teapot with 11 quality clay, it becomes an 11 quality unburnt teapot... i have 32 dex right now. so how exactly is my dex helping me?

DEX doesn't help, the opposite is true:
if your clay quality is higher than your DEX skill, the quality of your unburned teapot will decrease.

Related question: What is logs from a tree dependent on? I chopped a q30 tree and only got q10 logs from its stump. Or is it only changed if you chop the large log into smaller logs?

like potjeh said and: yes, when you make blocks out of the earlies chopped logs, you get the quality of the tree. while boards may be even higher, depending on your skills and mainly the saw, the blocks will be the q of the tree or lower(crappy saw or skill).

I don't think axe (it's axe, not saw) quality has any effect on block quality, no matter how crappy it is.
