This is what many games try to do yes. The parameters between a bot and a player are often difficult to accurately detect though. While we might think of ourselves as able to differentiate a bot from a player very easily, most of the time it's difficult to tell if someone is a bit or a distracted player or just someone repetitively grinding a task. Very easily every farmer in the game could be labeled as a bot.

I didn't know people actually went that far. Seems like a bit extreme lol. And maybe I shouldn't go AFK so often

This is one of the reasons I quit playing the current HnH and looking forward to (at least the start of) the new Hafen, which will be bot-free at the very start and hopefully has new systems that discourage the use of bots.

Why?
You will leave a stench of murder, which will stay there for a long time. The botter will definitely go and track you with this scent. You also gain nothing by killing it as it's so easy to just create a new one.
Hope you have a great day

Agreed. Other players only become valuable if they are a scarce resource.

Botting pretty much ruins that concept since it allows you to get away with working alone or with small groups to advance quickly. It also doesn't leave much motivation to leave other players alive.

if you want to keep up with other players.
I think there is a bit more to this game than just 'that'. But if 'that' is what makes you tick ... you should join a good working team. (more fun that way to, ... well, for most I recon.)
